A standard modern full gold sovereign contains approximately 7.32 grams of fine gold.
Its basic gold value is influenced by the market price, but some sovereigns can also be worth more because of their date, mint, condition, rarity or collector demand.
This is why it can be worth having a collection examined before selling purely by weight.
Should I Clean My Gold Coins?
Generally, no.
Cleaning or polishing collectable coins may damage their surfaces and reduce their desirability. We recommend leaving coins in their existing condition before bringing them for assessment.
