Not Sure What Your Coins Are Worth?
Don't clean or polish your coins before bringing them in. Cleaning can reduce the collector value of certain pieces.
Our team can examine your coins and assess whether their value lies in precious metal content, rarity, condition or collector demand.
Are Your Old British Coins Made of Silver?
Many older British coins contain genuine silver, even when they look worn or have been stored away for decades.
For most ordinary British circulating silver denominations, the date provides an important starting point.
These rules apply to many traditional British denominations, including sixpences, shillings, florins and halfcrowns. Some special issues, denominations and collector coins are exceptions.
Which Old Coins Are Worth Checking?
We're particularly interested in collections containing pre-1947 British silver coins, Victorian and Edwardian silver, early crowns, unusual dates and historic coins.
Some coins have a value beyond their silver content, so it's important to assess them individually.

Gold Sovereigns — More Than Just Their Gold Value
A standard modern full sovereign contains approximately 7.32 grams of fine gold within a 22-carat gold alloy.
However, not all sovereigns are valued in the same way.
Factors such as the monarch, date, mint, rarity, condition and whether the coin is a proof issue can influence collector value.
At The Antique Collective, we consider these characteristics when assessing sovereigns, rather than automatically treating every coin as bullion.
